Welcome

I am pleased that you found my homepage and you are

Cordially welcome!

On the following pages I want to tell you more about my horse philosophy – the way of Jaan, about hooves and of course about Sir Simple and me.

A variation of different teachings in horse education and training, results of scientific research and my own observations, experiences and conclusions form the basis of my horse philosophy.

My philosophy is, on the one hand, based on the Academic Art of Riding which gives you the potential to learn the basic exercises of gymnastisation. These can lead you to the advanced exercises in riding.

A further and vital aspect of my horse philosophy are the results of cognitive ethologists studying equine behavior. Their scientific research results are among other the foundation in how to teach horses so that these horses become 'learned' - educated horses.

One of these scientific research results is the work by the farrier Gene Ovnicek. His inquiry into equine lameness led to a host of scientific research and the findings he made are groundbreaking – they are helping us to understand how a horse has to move if it shall stay sound and healthy.

Knowledge and skill in the basic exercises of gymnastisation as well as how a horse shall move will benefit your understanding of the horse’s locomotory system. Through this understanding you will receive a further essential aspect in your interaction with your horse: the possibility to listen and to talk to your horse. Horses communicate with their whole body and if you can interpret the - often very subtle - signs you can better understand the horse and its world, and thus acquire adequate tools to improve the interaction between the horse and yourself.

Different aspects, different teachings, different opinions, lead to discussions. But if you want to evolve and to learn, to gain insight and understanding, then discussions, curiosity and awareness of the differences is a necessity in this process. Maybe openness and curiosity beside a heart for the horse are forming the most important foundation of my horse philosophy – the way of Jaan.

I hope you will enjoy my homepage with its various details and I am looking forward hearing from you.

With best regards,

Jenny Friedl.
